Production log 4

What Have You Contributed This Week?

This week was a long and tiring week for the group, during Monday we went and filmed the Southend scenes which when looking back over them have found that they will need to be re-shot. Throughout the rest of this week though we did edit as much as possible and really tried to capture the style that we originally wanted to create. We feel that we are really working well together, and all have a really good idea of the direction the music video is heading in.

How does this fit in with the production schedule/ job roles/ overall ideas of the project?

I think that in terms of our production schedule we are behind, but i dont think that worries any of our group as we really wanted to spend our time this week and get a really strong basis for the style that our music video was going to look like. Now that we have done that we can really move forward stronger and edit the video quicker because we all have the same image in our minds.

Were There Any Problems?

We did have one major problem which was our casting, one of our actress' was unable to film anything for various reasons, and we made the group decision to move on away from her and explore some other options.

How Did You Overcome Them?

We managed to quickly overcome this major problem by asking another person who we knew had perhaps more experience in dealing with cameras and had actually done media before. She was able to help us and take on the role, and as a group we feel we made the right decision.

What Are Your Plans For The Following Week?

The aims for the following week is to get a fully complete rough draft edit done. Upon looking at all the footage first we already realise where we need to re-shoot to improve the quality of the music video. We also feel like we can really move forward faster with our editing as we all have the same idea of how we want the finished product to look like.

production log 3

What Have You Contributed This Week?

This week was all about filming the music video. We aimed to film the whole video this week. My role was director as it was my original idea and i knew exactly how i wanted it to look. We did though have some problems that occurred and we felt that whilst some we could work round and overcome, there were some problems that have been very unfortunate.

How does this fit in with the Production Schedule/ Job Roles/ Overall ideas of the project?

Originally we were on track and in keeping with the production schedule. We did have to film on a couple of different days but that was not a problem for anyone. Whilst we did stay on track at the start of the week and film over half of our music video we did have some bigger problems that have been very unfortunate and harder to overcome.

Were There Any Problems?

Yes there were some problems, We had some trouble with the locations. During the planning of our music video we assumed that all locations were public and that no permission would be required. However when trying to film at ST Pauls Cathedral we were told that we couldn't film there. The second problem was one of our cast members unfortunately had some extreme circumstances that occurred in her family to which she was unable to film, it did mean that we could not complete filming during this half term period.

How Did/ Will You Overcome them?

We overcame the problem with the locations by simply using different locations. When we filmed around Buckingham Palace and Green Park as a group we improvised and decided that the use of Marble Arch would be a suitable place for us to film. Of course this change in locations did alter our shooting script, but i am confident that our collective creativity and innovation was sufficient enough that we came up with some really good scenes that will become very good during the post production stages. In terms of the unfortunate circumstances with one our cast members, we have arranged to film at later dates as it is understandable her wishes were to be with her family at this present time.

What are your plans for the following week?

our plans for this week were to continue to edit the footage we have as originally planned. The only changes would be that after school we plan to go and finish the scenes that are left. As a group of course these events have hindered our progress but we are confident that we can still produce an excellent piece of work even though we are behind schedule.

What Have You Contributed This Week?

This week was mainly about finishing all of the paperwork, in order to be able to use all of half term to film our music video. This week i was tasked to help complete our shooting script, and complete the location reccies, risk assessments and the permission to film documents. I was able to complete my section by fridays deadline and put it together with Franki's & Usama's sections to have a completed set of paperwork that sir was able to approve of.

How does this fit in with the Production Schedule/ Job Roles/ Overall ideas of the project?

This was the last week we had to complete all of the paperwork, so it was a priority to complete all of the work in order to keep to our schedule of filming during the half term week. As we were able to hand everything in on time, it meant that we was on track with the schedule and keeping things up to date.

Were There Any Problems?

No, this week we all worked well & hard together to get the work done and to a high standard. We each knew what we had to do and all of us were able to complete the work on time, to which we had no problems.

What are your plans for the following week?

For the next week, we planned to fully complete all of the production stage, we aimed to complete all filming, which involves going to southend, various locations around London as well as Ben's House. We feel that this is very likely to be done as we have got a full week off school to be able to complete the production.
